Clip of the Week: The Haiku Hillbillies

This week’s featured clip is from local favorite The Haiku Hillbillies. This performance is also from Mana’o Radio’s Barry Fest, which took place at the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens on Sunday, March 1st, 2009.

Captured on one camera by Sara and Joe of Noni Films.  Plenty more where this came from.

Clip of the Week – The Brown Chicken Brown Cow String Band

Last weekend, the crew at Noni Films donated a full day of documentary services to the awesome folks at Mana’o Radio during their annual music extravaganza/fundraiser festival BarryFest. BarryFest is an incredible event held in a gorgeous ampitheatre as a tribute to the late Mana’o Radio co-founder, Barry Shannon.

We had the pleasure of getting up close and personal with some of Maui’s most happening musicians. One group in particular – The Brown Chicken Brown Cow String Band – really stood out as a band to watch. They’re not residents, but they’ve been here on Maui for a while, and are staying for another couple of months.  Then they’re off on a cross-country U.S. tour! Don’t miss them when they hit your neck of the woods!

Here’s a clip (shot in 24p) from their performance, an original song called “Gypsy Jig”.
