The Downside of Social Media: a Q&A with Malcolm Gladwell
In scanning the blogosphere and Twitter feeds this morning (which is part of our morning ritual), we came across this interview with author Malcolm Gladwell (The Tipping Point, Outliers, and Blink) where he explains why does not “tweet” and only posts to his blog twice a year.
We thought we’d share it with you, since he’s got some really good points. And of course, we’re super open-minded. Even though we love our social media tools and use them to accent our marketing and public relations strategies, we know that REAL relationships are where it’s at in business. We also know the importance of alone time.
So, take a look at what Malcolm has to say. We agree with his quote in the article: “While we’re in the midst of the revolution, we need to stop and talk about its broader consequences.”
Some food for thought.
Presenting a New Web Series: “Change Your Mind, Change Your Heart, Change Your Life”
Back in December, Noni Films & Media partnered with internationally renowned artist Spar Street to produce a web series for Dr. Chuck Spezzano, best-selling author and co-founder of Psychology of Vision. The series was filmed in Spar’s gorgeous gallery/studio space on Maui, which was a gorgeous backdrop for this series.
Well, the series is now being released, one video at a time. We really learned a lot from Chuck, and recommend these videos for just about anyone. The series has over 30 videos covering a wide range of topics, and they’ll be released on Chuck’s Blog and on his Facebook Fan Page. There’s a short “Intro Video” here.
The first “topical” video in the series is about Tiger Woods and infidelity. Have a look:
So, What Makes a Viral Video….Viral?
If you’ve been exploring social media, you’ve probably heard the phrase “viral video”. Maybe you heard someone refer to that wedding dance routine video as “viral”, or maybe you assumed it was an infomercial about the swine flu.
New Video, Old Friends.
We would love to share with you a new video we produced for Presence Productions, an event company on Maui that has been getting quite a lot of buzz lately. Together, we’ve been creating an online presence for Presence (yes!) and getting a viral video out in to the web’s social sphere to get people excited about what’s to come. Here’s the video, which captures just the tip of the iceberg of what this team of creative geniuses has up it’s creative sleeves.
