Editing Gig: Game Show Nite: Restaurant Edition

Maui local Brenton Keith – a good friend of Noni Films – is an incredible magician and performer. He recently began putting together a series of public events where he plays a game show host (a la Richard Dawson of the “Family Feud”) and invites folks from the “audience” (customers at the bar) to come up on “stage” (yes, he and his partner Dusty Byrum go the full gamut – they designed a fully operational set) to try their hand at his version of the Family Feud. Together, Brenton and Dusty call themselves the Game Show Fanatics.
Just one look at footage from these events and you know – without a doubt – that Brenton – in the lead role as “Dick Dawson” – is having the time of his life, interacting with Maui’s residents and visitors, firing off corny jokes left and right. And the participants are lovin’ it too.
A couple of friends of ours borrowed a video camera from Akaku (Maui’s public access station) and filmed the most recent event, titled “Game Show Nite” Restaurant Edition, held at the Club House Cafe & Bar in Ka’anapali Resort. The event featured a handful of contestant “families”, just like on the classic Family Feud, and each team represented a different Maui restaurant. Hilarity and a good dose of healthy competition ensued.
Noni Films was given three full hours of footage from that night, and we were able to pare it down to just over 10 minutes – all in a matter of a day’s work. It’s always a challenge to edit footage someone else shot, but there were plenty of great shots to choose from in this this loose edit that really gives a nice overview of what these unique events on Maui are like. Enjoy!
